We drank it all through our cold, wet winter months mixed with honey and milk, we’ve put it on our face with yoghurt and coconut oil, added it to our green smoothies (more about these later) and now...
...we shall mix it with bicarbonate of soda and coconut oil to make our toothpaste!
Turmeric, Bicarb and Coconut Oil Toothpaste
It does make loads of sense really when you think that coconut oil is anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal and is used world-wide for oil pulling – another remedy that works wonders for different ailments, more on that later... so here is the recipe to get those pearly whites, shiny bright!...
- 3 generous tblsp coconut oil*
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp turmeric
- Whisk all the above really well until it is thick and creamy
- Store in jars and always use a dry toothbrush – we use our little finger to apply onto our toothbrush Brush gently for a minute or so
- Rinse well
You really will see an improvement after using this a few times
– as Rebecca would say after brushing with turmeric – ‘my gums are purring with happiness’...
*In Malta in Summer, coconut oil, being a saturated fat is liquidy at room temperature, don't let this put you off. You can still pour the paste onto your toothbrush. In Winter, at room temperature it forms a nice paste with a consistency very similar to toothpaste.
